This Privacy Policy explains how HiLanguages (“we”, “our”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the HiLanguages iOS app (the “App”).

1. Scope

This policy applies to the HiLanguages iOS App.

2. Information We Collect

Account & authentication

  • Identifiers needed to sign you in (Firebase Auth; anonymous sessions and Sign in with Apple).
  • If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may provide us with a relay email address or your email, based on your settings.

User content

  • Voice messages and other audio you choose to record/upload in the App.
  • Transcripts and text derived from your audio (speech-to-text), where enabled.
  • Messages and conversation content you send in chats.

Learning & engagement signals

  • In-app interaction events used to power your experience (for example: viewed items, dwell time, completion, likes/saves, and practice outcomes).

Device & technical information

  • Device and app information (e.g., device model, OS version, app version, language settings).
  • Server logs may include technical information such as IP address and request metadata for security, rate limiting, and debugging.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide and operate the App features (including sync across devices).
  • Generate AI-powered responses, audio, and learning content you request.
  • Personalize your learning experience and improve quality and performance.
  • Prevent abuse, protect the App, and enforce our policies.
  • Provide customer support and respond to requests.

4. Speech Recognition & Audio Processing

The App may process your audio in different ways depending on the feature you use. For example, speech recognition may be performed using Apple’s Speech framework and/or cloud providers (such as OpenAI Whisper) when enabled. Some speech processing may occur on-device, and some may require sending audio to a provider to generate transcripts or responses.

5. Notifications

If you enable notifications, we may send you push notifications via Apple Push Notification service (APNs) and/or local notifications on your device. You can control notifications in your iOS settings.

6. Storage & Sync

We use Firebase (Firestore and Storage) to store and sync App data and media so it can persist across sessions and devices. The App may also store certain data locally on your device (for example, caches) to improve performance.

7. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services to operate the App and provide AI features:

  • Firebase (Google): authentication and cloud data sync (Firestore + Storage). Privacy Policy

  • ElevenLabs: character text-to-speech where enabled. Privacy Policy
  • Cerebras: text generation (LLM inference) where enabled. Privacy Policy

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers (like those listed above) to operate the App, and with authorities when required by law or to protect the safety and security of our users and systems.

9. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures designed to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as necessary to provide the App and fulfill the purposes described in this policy (including maintaining conversation history and synced learning state), unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.

11. Your Rights & Choices

  • You can control microphone, speech recognition, and notification permissions in iOS Settings.
  • You may request access, correction, export, or deletion of your data by contacting us at hi@cozia.ai.

12. Children’s Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13 (or under the age required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us at hi@cozia.ai.

13. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your country of residence (for example, where our service providers operate). These countries may have different data protection laws.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the “Last Updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the App.
